HUSHEL

 

Hushel are also known in the Realms by various other names, such as halflings, half-elf, seeds and carns (the latter two are commonly  meant as insults). Hushel are the offspring of a Human and Elf parent or two Hushel parents. Those with more human traits are almost identical to humans, though slightly smaller. Those with more dominant Elven traits are almost identical to Elves, though slightly larger. However, the trait they both have in common is their ears. Hushel ears have a more pronounced point than the round human ear, but less than the full blood Elf.

Unlike the Hauflin and Halorc, Hushel do not experience significant cultural bias or discrimination. This is due, in large part, because they’re often mistaken as a Human or an Elf. Sometimes, this can lead to animosity toward the Hushel from members of a Hauflin and Halorc group. 


It should also be noted that Hushel are naturally more attractive than the Hauflin or Halorc and are simply accepted by society more often. Hushel mostly live in multiracial towns, normally dominated by humans, in primarily human nation-states. Although they can be found in Elven settlement, it’s not nearly as common. Although Elves are not overtly hostile to the Hushel, they tend to be far less welcoming. This is certainly true for the Loran and Moorish Elves. Both of these Elven Groups do show open disdain for the Hushel. Even though the Hushel live throughout the Realm, a significant concentration dwells in the three Hushel nation-states, the Principality of Sun, Promise of Dytese, and the Principality of Essen.

During Hero creation, the Player must choose a “Dominant” side of the Hushel. This indicates which traits the Hushel favor, their Human or Elven side.
