Halorcs are often referred to throughout the Realms as halflings, half-orcs, scraps, and korots (the latter two are commonly used as insults). The Halorc are the offspring of a Human and Orc parent, as well as from two Halorc parents. Halorcs resemble humans in many ways and can easily be misidentified at a distance. However, they’re larger and less comely, sometimes with exaggerated or deformed facial features. Whichever parental traits are dominant, Human or Orc, determines how severe these deformities can be and ultimately their acceptance throughout the Realms.
Like the Hauflin, Halorcs can be found in multiracial settlements. However, the majority found here will have been banished from military service, criminal organizations or abandoned by their parents.
But unlike the Hauflin, they are typically employed as bodyguards, bandits and hired muscle. Their size and fighting prowess make them perfect for these duties. Although Halorcs are not treated well by overall society, they are often sought out and enlisted to serve in special units of the local militia or army.
Halorc do establish all-Halorc settlements that tend to be in the lesser developed areas of Serant, they especially can be found on the borderlands of the Vigh and Sythia. Along with these, there are two completely Halorc nation-states, the Principality of Bourge and the nation of Etera.
The Halorc has an interesting place in the history of the Realms, nearly all Halorc alive are descendants (by some degree) of Drenn the Conqueror. Drenn was a great Halorc warrior king from ages past. The very name of the current Age of Drenn began after his conquests engulfed most of southern Sera. Drenn’s royal harem was said to be in the hundreds and maintained for years. His offspring were numerous and now generations later, even more so.
During Hero creation, the Player must choose a “Dominant” side of the Halorc. This indicates which traits the Halorc favor, their Human or Orc side.
